Leadership Hamilton
Program
Leadership Hamilton began in 1990 and is designed to ensure the continuing vitality of our community by identifying, educating and motivating emerging leaders. Leadership Hamilton is open to anyone in the Hamilton area who aspires to or already has talent for leadership positions in the community.
Throughout the nine month course, participants explore such issues as: economic development,
education, city government, criminal justice, health care and social services. During the full day sessions, participants work together with local leaders to expand their network of contacts and resources, and increase their breadth and depth of knowledge about the community.  Contact Nancy O'Neill for more details.

Goals
  1. Develop informed, trained and committed leaders who understand the issues and needs of our community.
  2. Create the opportunity for future leaders to meet, establish rapport and maintain relationships.
  3. Ensure that participants will be qualified to involve themselves in greater roles in our community through volunteerism in service and civic roles, serving on appointed boards and commissions and supporting growth of the city.
  4. Create the opportunity for future leaders to continue to identify and study local issues.
  5. Enhance the skills necessary to become effective leaders of the community.
Participation
Leadership Hamilton is open to anyone in the Hamilton area who aspires to or already has talent for leadership positions in the community. Candidates may be nominated by an organization or may nominate themselves. Selection is determined by an applicant's willingness to invest the time required for active participation in the Program.

Space is limited to 25 participants selected from those who apply for the program. A selection committee will review all applications. Selection will be based on demonstrated interest, ability to assume leadership roles, and personal commitment to the Hamilton area. The selection committee will endeavor to involve participants who represent a cross-section of the community's social and economic interests.

Each participant is required to attend the orientation session, five of the monthly sessions, and the retreat to be eligible to graduate from the program.

Organization
Leadership Hamilton! is sponsored by the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, which also provides staff support for the program. Responsibility for the curriculum, participation selection, and conduct of the program is vested in a separate Board of Directors.
