Women?s Journeys, Women?s Voices: The Refugee Experience. Tuesday, March 15, 1:00-2:30 in 142 Johnston Hall. At the present time there over 20 million refugees worldwide registered with the United Nations. The United States welcomes approximately 70,000 refugees per year, and in the past year approximately 3000 refugees have been resettled in Ohio. While refugees are among us, in many cases they may be invisible and their voices not heard. This program offers the opportunity for us to hear the voices of women refugees living in Southwest Ohio. Invitations have been made to refugees from a variety of areas including Bhutan, Burundi, Iraq, Bosnia and Rwanda. By hearing refugee voices Southwest Ohio moves closer to becoming a welcoming community for refugees. This event is open to the wider community. Sponsored jointly by Miami University Middletown and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. For more information please contact Mel Cohen, 513 727-3366 or cohenm1@miamioh.edu.
